 TASC is of the view, based on its research, that the legal minimum wage in Ireland as it is currently constructed, and at its current level, is inadequate in providing low-paid employees with sufficient income to achieve an acceptable minimum standard of living. 1  The importance of a legally binding minimum wage for many households is shown by the fact that in almost 40% of cases, workers earning the minimum wage are the only earners in their household.
