Contributing about 20% of the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) and providing the main livelihood for most of the rural population, agriculture is an important part of The Gambia’s economy. Yet, despite this importance, agricultural productivity and value-addition remain low, constrained by factors such as limited energy access. This is a significant impediment in irrigation, cold storage and processing, leading to post-harvest losses of 30%-40%. Decentralised renewable energy (DRE) solu
