The offshore wind industry is moving fast from a niche technology to a mainstream supplier of low-carbon electricity. There are 12.6 GW of offshore wind operating in Europe. Recent government auction results show that the industry has achieved unprecedented levels of competitiveness through rapid progress in technology, industrial growth and a reduction in the cost of capital. According to WindEurope, offshore wind is expected to produce 7% to 11% of the EU’s electricity demand by 2030. This
