As populations in the Western Balkans age rapidly, long–term care (LTC) has emerged as a critical policy challenge in the region. Within a decade, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Serbia are projected to become “super–aged” societies (adults aged 65 or more exceeding 21 percent of the population), and by 2050 Kosovo, Montenegro and North Macedonia are projected to join them.
