When the Class of 2026 entered college four years ago, employers were posting nearly twice as many jobs as they are today — the tail end of a hiring boom post-pandemic. The Class of 2022 graduated into that surge while this year’s seniors are graduating into its aftermath. Senior sentiment has followed. Pessimism about starting their careers has climbed from 46% to 62%, while the neutral middle has collapsed from 38% to 16%.
