Consumer sentiment has now fallen for four consecutive months. The Index of ConsumerSentiment for all U.S. adults stood at 88.1 in May 2026, well below the 100 baseline and thelowest reading since mid-2023. Leisure (91.9) and business travelers (113.0) remain measurablymore confident than the broader population, as they consistently have been - but bothsegments have also been on a steady decline since the start of the year.
