As the new European Parliament and Commission take office following the EU elections in June, this autumn update outlines the latest data for wind energy in Europe and our expectations for the rest of the decade. Europe now has 278 GW of wind power capacity, with 243 GW onshore and 35 GW offshore. The EU-27 has 225 GW of wind power capacity.The EU is expected to build 22 GW of new wind farms annually from 2024 to 2030 but needs to build 33 GW annually to meet its 2030 climate and energy targe
