In 2025, the global mean annual land temperature anomaly was 1.9 °C high above the climate normal of the period 1951–1980, making it the second‑warmest year on record after 2024 (+2.1 °C). This makes 2023, 2024 and 2025 the three warmest consecutive years on record since 1880, the beginning of direct measurements, and reinforces the increasing warming of the past decade.
